Born and raised in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. From a young age Astrid studied music, playing instruments such as Piano and Viola, which sparked her interest in art. She studied Advertising at the Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE) where she discovered her passion for Scenography. After moving to USA she switched careers and graduated from Brooklyn College with a Major in Film Production. She currently also pursues a fashion career as a Model for RED Model Management.
She enjoys incorporating aspects of her culture into her films with a good sense of humor. Her Thesis Short Film Agua ‘e Panty won the award for Best Director and was the Audience Favorite at the Brooklyn College Film Festival. It also won a 2019 Student Grant from the National Board of Review.
